New Marker Recycling Program at Ordway

The PTO would like to thank Ms. Mendoza and the new Ordway Student Council for taking on a new project to recycle used markers! The school is now participating in the Crayola ColorCycle program, where used-up markers sent to Crayola are recycled into fuel. You can learn more about the program and its impacts at Marker Recycling Program. For more information on how Ordway is participating, contact recycling chair Deb Rudnick (debrudnick@gmail.com). Feel free to send used markers in from home for depositing in our collection boxes!

Ordway Gardening Committee

2nd & 4th Fridays of each month starting in March. We meet on Popcorn Fridays to weed and prune Ordway’s grounds. Please join us for the full time or for any part of this two hour window. Bring gloves and garden tools if you have them (we have some extras as well). We work (non-torrential) rain or shine; in the event of a downpour, we will see you at the next scheduled event. 8am-10am.

Ordway Carnival Committee Opening

The Ordway Carnival Committee is gearing up to put on the best Ordway Carnival yet! We currently need someone to step into the High School Volunteer Coordinator position. Last year’s coordinator has moved on to Sakai, but is happy to help the new coordinator by answering questions and providing advice. This position involves getting the word out to the students at BHS, setting firm expectations for being a carnival volunteer, and managing the volunteers throughout the afternoon/evening of the carnival. We also need a co-coordinator to help Maria Dozeman, our Volunteer Coordinator, and a Carnival Co-Chair willing to learn the ropes this year and take over for me as Carnival Committee Chair next year. I work full-time in Seattle and this has been very doable for me the past two years. If you are looking for an opportunity to be more of a part of the Ordway community and contribute to a very fun event’s success, this is your chance. If you have any questions, please contact Angela Bonifaci at angelabonifaci@gmail.com. Thank you very much for considering! The Carnival is Friday, May 9th.
